Tunes in Voorhees, Nj was packed with fans of all ages attending “Victimize Voorhees Vol.2”. Five hardcore bands, all hailing from the east coast, were geared up to put on an amazing show.
Bludgeon
Bludgeon from Blackwood, NJ kicked off the night with a heavy hitting set. Vocalist Jeff Reis got the crowd riled up with a great introduction. Bludgeon’s music was the heaviest of the evening, with guttural vocals, spot on squeals, chuggy guitar riffs, and perfectly timed breakdowns. Bludgeon’s raging energy led way to some intense moshing. Fans were throwing bows, cartwheeling, and two-stepping in the pit. This only increased as the band did a cover of “Beast” by Acacia Strain. All in all, Bludgeon was a powerful opening act that set the stage for the rest of the night.
Windley
Windley from Myrtle Beach, SC hit the stage next. They took a nostalgic turn, with songs reminiscent of 2000’s punk rock. Windley blessed the crowd with melodic guitar riffs, fast paced drumming, and relatable lyrics, leading way to lots of two-stepping fans. One song that stood out was “Birdsong”, its melody took you on a rollercoaster ride. Starting off slow, leading into fast-paced riffs, followed by several sick breakdowns, and ending back in a slow chorus. The number of fans moving in the pit to this song was impressive. Windley was a great addition to the evening and brought a phenomenal set to the stage.
Fucksake
Fucksake from Philadelphia, PA was next in the lineup. They are a fast-paced hardcore 4 piece with a little thrash thrown in the mix. Fucksake’s high energy, silly banter, and organic sound was a hit with the crowd. Their songs struck hard with catchy lyrics, and punchy drumbeats, keeping fans moving throughout each one. Fucksake’s stage presence was just astounding, making their set a hard act to follow up.
Pusch
Pusch from Philadelphia, PA was 4th in the lineup. Pusch has a unique hardcore/punk sound that will get you moving. Although short, Pusch’s songs have a raw and intense feel, jam packed with forceful riffs, and machine gun drumming. Two songs that really stood out are ‘Magnum Opus” and “Let My Phone Ring” with lyrics that are easy to pick up, you’ll be singing along in no time. Pusch’s vocalist, Brandon Richie, engaged with fans throughout their set, even joining the mayhem in the pit. This band is non-stop fun, their sound is epic, and their songs will get stuck in your head. What more could you ask for???
Gunk
Gunk from New Jersey was tonight’s headliner. Finishing out the night with this NJ hardcore band was perfect. Gunk is a bit on the heavy side, and that makes them stand out in the crowd. Their aggressive vocals, intense riffs, and rapid drumming gave fans a fresh burst of adrenaline to keep the night going. Gunk packed a ton of attitude into a high energy set. Their songs were punchy, raw, and loud, leaving fans wanting more. Gunk was the perfect finisher to end “Victimize Voorhees Vol.2”.
